The shadows she observed on the lawn inspired her to spend months developing an approach that in contrast did not portray the selected object onto canvas. It is more like the image has been transformed to it's own representation with the canvas taking on the artist's interpretation. It is most effective for objects that are living as well as items that have a shelf life like fruits and people. Alexa Meade's style of painting, which is very ephemeral in the sense that it is amorphous, transparent. The only work from her work that is preserved is the photo. Trompe l'oeil can be achieved using the two processes of photography and painting. This creates a flattened, two dimensional image. Sometimes, Meade integrates her painted models into the three-dimensional world around them, allowing them to interact within their own self-created environment. The line that separates painting and photography can be dissolved.
